Who is a Product Manager?

A product manager is an individual who is responsible for a product in an organization from its execution till the product reached the customers and also gets feedback from the customers. Product Managers ensure that the product meets the company’s and the client's expectations. 
Product managers work with cross-functional teams to define, validate and execute products as required by the company from time to time and meet customer needs. They are responsible for the product throughout its life cycle i.e., From designing the product to its marketing. They ensure that the product meets the management’s objectives.
 

Roles and Responsibilities of a Product Manager:

  • Working with cross-functional teams to define and execute a product so that it meets the demands of the brand and customers. 
  • Liaising with external agencies to deliver initiatives for the brand. 
  • Create and deliver an operational plan with the team to ensure a product lasts its full life cycle. The responsibility of the product is solely your responsibility. 
  • Understand the market principle and develop customers’ insights and make the necessary changes in the product from time to time. 
  • Responsible for product demonstrations to clients. 
  • Responsible for understanding and explaining the features of the products to the stakeholders. 
  • Provide input of the product to the management during the development and implementation stages and then ensure the decline stage is delayed as much as possible. i.e., prevent the product from declining in the market by innovative ways.

 

Educational Qualifications and Technical Requirements: 

  • Must be a full-time graduate (MBA in marketing preferred). 
  • Must be creative and be able to work in a time-bound environment.  
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in a team.
  • Is highly goal-oriented and can do multiple tasks at a time. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the principle of business analysis. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office with extensive knowledge of Excel for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of platforms like JIRA, InVision is a strong advantage.
  • Must have the mindset to learn continuously which ensures a constant forward motion in the quality, timeliness and efficiency of delivery.  
  • Must have a strong knowledge of the product life cycle. 

 

Salary Statics:

Although the salary of a Product manager depends on various factors like education qualification and experience. As a fresher, a person can expect anything between Rs. 3LPA to Rs. 4LPA. Whereas, experienced professionals may get up to Rs. 10LPA
